PLEASE NOTE! 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION re: Federal Government Shutdown and CalFresh 

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known in California as CalFresh, is operated through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and has been impacted by the government shutdown. While there is funding for benefits through January, the USDA has not received funding for SNAP beyond January 20. Therefore, the USDA has directed States to provide February’s food benefits early. 

CalFresh benefits in Tuolumne County for February will be issued on January 16 for most continuing clients

Clients who may not receive benefits early are as follows:

  • Clients who are required to submit a CalFresh Semi Annual Report (SAR7) in January.
  • Clients who are required to complete an annual recertification in January.  

Clients who receive their benefits early should plan their food budgets accordingly, knowing that these benefits will be the only benefits provided through the end of February.  Although they will be received in January, they are February’s benefits; no further benefits will be issued in February.

Clients who do not receive benefits early are scheduled to be receive benefits between February 01-10. However, unless the federal shutdown is resolved, benefits issued after January 20th MAY not be available. 

New applications will continue to be accepted and processed. However, unless the federal shutdown is resolved, benefits issued after January 20th MAY not be available. 

Additional information and guidance will be issued to counties once more is known, and we will continue to provide updates as we receive information. All other CalFresh operations will continue as usual.

The mission of the Tuolumne County Department of Social Services (DSS) is to provide appropriate services to individuals and families to enhance self-sufficiency. Such services include financial assistance, medical benefits, in-home care for the elderly and disabled, employment and training services, and protective services for children and adults.

  • If you suspect abuse or neglect of a child, please complete a Suspected Child Abuse Report SCAR form.
