Maternal Child Health Program
The Maternal Child Adolecsent Health Program (MCAH) offers a variety of services to women, children, and their families to ensure that all children are born to healthy mothers in a safe and healthy environment in which to live, and have equal access to appropriate and needed care without disparities. Programs offered include referrals, resources, and educational materials.

Presumptive Eligibility
Presumptive eligibility (PE) is early, temporary Medi-Cal for low income pregnant women. It provides basic prenatal care while you are waiting for your Medi-Cal approval. PE is available to any woman living in California who thinks she is pregnant.

PE will pay for most prenatal services while you wait for your Medi-Cal. You must apply for Medi-Cal when you are on PE and turn in your application before your presumptive eligibility expires.

For a doctor or clinic that offers PE services, call the Tuolumne County Department of Social Services Medi-Cal District Office at 209-533-5711.

Access for Infants & Mothers
Access for Infants and Mothers Program (AIM) is low-cost health care coverage for pregnant women. Their newborns may be covered by the Healthy Families Program. AIM is for middle-income families who don’t have health insurance and whose income is too high for no-cost Medi-Cal. AIM is also available to those who have health insurance if their deductible or co-payment for maternity services is more than $500.

If you are enrolled in AIM, your baby is eligible for enrollment in the Healthy Families Program unless your baby is enrolled in employer-sponsored insurance or no-cost Medi-Cal.
