Air District Announcements for November 2014

Effective Monday November 17, Cal Fire has lifted the burn suspension for the State Responsibility Areas in the Tuolumne - Calaveras Unit.  You must possess a valid burn permit from your local fire agency prior to burning.  Cal Fire is limiting all burning to the hours between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on permissive burn nights.

It is your responsibility to follow the requirements of your burn permit including: being in attendance at all times, having 10 feet of clearance, and limiting your pile size to no more than 4 feet in diameter.

Burn only clean dry vegetation.  Burning non-vegetation, wet vegetation, burning in a burn barrel, and burning on a no burn night are violations of Air District rules.  Burning by commercial businesses requires a burn permit from the air district.  If smoke from your fire is creating a nuisance to your neighbor, you are required to put the fire out.

Free Green Waste Drop Off

Tuolumne County Air Pollution Control District continues to offer free green waste vouchers, giving out approximately 2,000 vouchers to County residents on a first come first serve basis.  Each household is limited to four vouchers.  One voucher is equal to 1 cubic yard of green waste.
