Camps and Clinics


The Tuolumne County Recreation Department contracts with experienced local coaches to offer different youth sport clinics and camps.

Baseball Camp
Learn the fundamental individual skills of baseball such as throwing, fielding, pitching and catching as well teamwork. This clinic is for both boys and girls who want to learn the game of baseball. Participants will be divided up into appropriate age divisions on the first day of camp.

Basketball Clinic
Learn the fundamentals of basketball for both boys and girls.

Golf Lessons
Participants will learn the basics of golf including putting, driving, and course etiquette. Program includes club rentals, balls and a mini tournament the last day of the class.

Tennis Camp


Lessons include an introduction to game rules, basic forehand and backhand development, volley and serving. More advanced students will focus on improved tennis strokes with emphasis on direction and technique. Also includes match play.

This camp works on increasing basic skills and improving game strategy.

Climbing Camp

Learn to climb or improve your skills in a safe, indoor environment and join one of the fastest growing sports! Students will learn the basics of climbing and belaying with a mix of games and activities.

Fee includes harness and climbing shoe rental. Bonus: parents work out for free in the fitness center while the kids climb!

Lil' Sidekicks Horse Camp


Learn social, academic and physical skills that will aid in kindergarten readiness through Equine Assisted Learning arts and activities. All sessions are guided by a certified horsemanship/riding instructor and/or equine specialist. Arts and crafts will include horse and nature related projects. Group games improve team bonding, self-awareness and self-confidence. All campers must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver during camp.

All abilities are welcome!

These camps focus on introductory horsemanship, riding and life skills through Equine Assisted Learning, arts and activities. All sessions are guided by a certified horsemanship/riding instructor and/or equine specialist. Activities include horse grooming, horse health, horse anatomy, horse tack/equipment. Arts and crafts will include horse and nature related projects. Field activities will include learning basic horsemanship including riding. Group games will include team bonding, self-awareness and self-confidence.

Developing skills like painting can provide the motivation children need to be successful in all aspects of life. Creative activities, like painting can develop fine and gross motor skills, encourage a positive, critical thinking process and is beneficial in brain development. Art can provide an emotional therapeutic sanctuary for children that can also open them up to an entire new world of artistic expression.

Teen Fit


Build confidence through exercise and nutrition education. Our focus will be on strengthening and toning using moderate to intense body weight exercises for a complete body workout as well as learning to nourish our bodies. The self defense techniques taught in this class will help to ensure the personal safety of the participants by providing them with basics on how to avoid and escape potentially dangerous situations. Nature offers us a sanctuary, a place where we can find peace and wonder. For children, it is the greatest playground of all, with all it's diverse structures, smells, textures, it's creatures of all shapes and sizes, and it's abundant plants. Children will share these amazing places as they explore the wonders that nature so freely gives us.
